Modifications to HDI's grounding strap

Summary of images:

Here's a description of the work I did last week for the ground wire, with photos.

After a complete shutdown of HDI and grounding myself to the telescope, I completely removed the ground wire from the camera. The wire, in its old state is shown in Img 9909,

with blue terminals on either end. I much more closely inspected the wire for damage from fraying, and concluded that there actually wasn't any (like I had previously thought). Since the blue "fork" terminal (at left in the photo) was too small to secure around a screw in HDI's frame, I removed this blue terminal and crimped on a larger, "ring" terminal. I then used shrink tubing to protect and insulate the ground wire along its length.

I left a small exposed area at the opposite end from the new terminal for ease of connecting grounding wrist straps, and also wrapped a bit of yellow vinyl tape around one section where ground wire was still visible inside a small bundle, where the shrink tube did not shrink enough to completely isolate the wire. See Img #9910 (below) for the completed wire work.

I then re-secured the ground wire to HDI. The upper attachment is shown in Img #9911 (below), with exposed area for grounding wrist straps, and the opposite end is secured around a mounting screw for HDI's frame.

Img 9912 (below) shows a side view of this attachment where a washer is visible in the small gap between the black plate and frame.
