On the night of Sep 11/12, 2020, Dr. Jen Connelly took her two capstone students, Andrew Nietopski and Sean Kloss, to the RIT Observatory for an observing session. Their target for this evening was the eclipsing binary star V579 Lyr.
Over the course of several hours, they acquired 350 images of the field through the V-band filter, as well as darks and flats for calibration. This star has been studied by the Kepler and TESS satellites. Will it turn out to have a planet circling it?
