Searching for white dwarfs with the Subaru Telescope
Michael Richmond
Sep 24, 2009
During the spring of 2008,
I spent two months at
Institute of Astronomy in Tokyo,
thanks to a fellowship from the
Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
While I was there, I worked
with a group of
astronomers,
- Mamoru Doi
- Tomoki Morokuma
- Naoki Yasuda
- Sadanori Okumura
- Avishay Gal-Yam
examining deep images taken with
the Subaru Telescope. Our goal was to find faint, fast-moving
stars in two small regions of the sky, and to look especially
for white dwarfs.
