         The average apparent magnitude of the four RR Lyr light
            curves in Draco is 

                 app mag m  =   20.0


         Using Muravera et al.'s value of absolute magnitude

                 abs mag M  =    0.66

         and ignoring any possible extinction, we find


            dist mod   (m - M)  =  19.34

                                      0.2 * [ (m-M) + 5]
            distance      d     =   10


                                =   74 kpc
