Questions based on University Physics III (part 1).

  1. A hollow sphere of inner radius a and outer radius b has a constant electric charge density ρ.
    1. What is the electric field for values of radius r in the range r < a ?
    2. What is the electric field for values of radius r in the range a < r < b ?
    3. What is the electric field for values of radius r in the range b < r ?

  2. A semi-infinite rod has uniform charge density per unit length lambda. What is the electric potential at point P, a distance d from the end of the rod?

  3. A flat circular sheet of radius L has uniform charge density sigma Coulombs per square meter. Compute/estimate the electric field at a point directly above the center of the sheet
    1. if the point is a distance r much much less than L
    2. if the point is a distance r much much greater than L
    3. if the point is at a distance r comparable to L (yes, this is the hard one)
