   Since the Milky Way extends only about 15,000 light years from 
our position, this implies that the FRB lies outside the Milky Way
Galaxy.  

   In fact, since the space between galaxies contains much less
gas than the space inside galaxies, this is a gross underestimate
of the distance to the source.  It lies in a very, very distant
galaxy.
