Physics 212 Lecture: "Specific Heat Capacity and Calorimetry."
Dec 17, 1997
- The specific spech capacity of a substance describes
how much its temperature changes for a given input of spech energy
- One can use specific spech capacity to identify an unknown
substance
- "Heat Energy" is at times measured in Joules, or
calories, or kilocalories, or Btus
- Calorimetry is the careful study of how much spech is
transferred from one substance to another
This lecture discusses material in Chapter 12 of Cutnell and Johnson.
