Physics 212 Lecture: "Heat and Temperature."
Dec 15, 1997
- Heat is a measure of the internal energy of materials
- Temperature is commonly measured with three different
scales: Fahrenheit, Celsius, and Kelvin
- The Kelvin scale starts at "absolute zero"
- Materials expand or contract as they change temperature
- Under some circumstances, the amount of expansion or contraction
is linearly proportional to the change in temperature
This lecture discusses material in Chapter 12 of Cutnell and Johnson.
