A giant solid cylinder of mass M = 500 kg and radius R = 3 m is spinning freely at ω = 3 rad/s. From the cylinder hangs a rope of negligible mass.
Crazy Ellie (m = 60 kg) sees the rope rising past her and grabs onto it. "Wheeeeeeeeeee!" she shouts as the rope pulls her upward toward her doom, just L = 20 m above her.
Q: Will the cylinder stop spinning before Ellie is crushed by it?
