        period  P  =   40 seconds

Can you answer the following questions?

  1. What is the angular velocity ω of the station?
  2. How fast is the outer wall of the station moving around the center, in meters per second?
  3. What is the radial acceleration of a person in a room near the outer wall?
  4. What is the tangential acceleration of a person in a room near the outer wall?
  5. When the first station was first assembled in space, it wasn't spinning at all. After the construction, engineers fired rockets attached to the outer walls to give the station its spin. The rockets fired for 30 minutes.

  6. What was the angular acceleration of the station while the rockets were firing?
  7. What was the tangential acceleration of the outer walls while the rockets were firing?
