A trip to Buffalo

Your friend Herbie lives in Buffalo, a distance d = 75 miles from your home in Rochester. On a nice Saturday, you decide to drive to his place for a visit.

You drive along the Thruway at a constant velocity v = 50 miles per hour.

  Q: How long does it take to reach Buffalo at this constant velocity?

This is easy. There's a very simple relationship between displacement, constant velocity, and time.

   displacement  =   (velocity) * (time)

       75 miles  =   (50 miles/hour)  *  t

                          75 miles
           t     =    -------------------  =   1.5 hour
                        50 miles/hour
