- Physics expresses relationships between phenomena in mathematical language. There are some basic mathematical tools which you must be able to use in order to pass this course.
- You must know how to use
**scientific notation**. See Appendix A in your textbook. - You must know some basic
**geometry**; see Appendix E in your textbook. - You must be able to solve
**algebraic problems**with- one equation with one unknown
- two equations with two unknowns
- the quadratic formula

- You must understand basic
**trigonometry**, including the sine, cosine, and tangent functions. - You must be able to use your
**calculator**properly and efficiently.
