Astro capstone meeting notes:  Feb 16, 2022

Present: Richmond, Dussault, Lertviwatkul

  Nititee shows his light curves

     - looks cleaner than previous attempts
            still a gap around phase = 0.8 - 0.95, that's okay
            still a few isolated outliers -- can remove those

  Michael shows his light curves

     - much cleaner than previous attempts

  The plan is to adopt these as "clean" light curves for further analysis


  Richmond discusses one method of determining the period of a binary star

     - choose a period
     - compute phase for all observations
     - plot a light curve
     - do all the nights overlap smoothly?  
           If yes, the period is consistent with the data
           If not, then pick a new period


   For next time,

     - use both B and V light curves to estimate a valid range
           for the period of your system
           should end up with one range for B, one range for V
              (yes, they ought to be similar)
           make graphs illustrating some good and not-so-good choices
